MEET ANNE DUFFY
Cedar Park City Council Place 3
It has been my privilege to represent the citizens of Cedar Park and bring new ideas and integrity to our City's council.
I grew up in a family of public service. My parents were civically engaged and their influence taught me the value of participating in opportunities to help others and give back. Attending Catholic School for many years, also instilled the values of service to others.
While serving in the US Naval Reserves as a Hospital Corpsman, I completed my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. Community service was a large part of my time in college, volunteering time to local schools, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), and University students.
Following graduation from Montana State University, I moved to Lubbock, TX. Not too long after beginning work as an RN, I was assigned the role of Charge Nurse. I completed the training to become a Guardian Ad Litem for CASA. Serving as a CASA Volunteer was an extremely rewarding experience. I met my husband in Lubbock, and we relocated to Cedar Park. He has served in the US Air Force and is a Lieutenant for the Leander Police Department, as well as Commander of Central Texas Regional SWAT (CTRS).
Upon our arrival to Cedar Park, it certainly was not the city it is today. We have watched it grow immensely, adding many new homes, businesses and schools.
Continuing my service in the US Navy, I received my commission in the Navy Nurse Corps, shortly after moving to Cedar Park. While in the Navy, I was awarded two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals and a Meritorious Service Medal. When I got out of the Navy, my final assignment was Assistant Officer in charge for my detachment.
I have worked in Austin hospitals for more than 21 years. During my tenure in nursing, working as a Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, and Clinical Nursing Manager, primarily in Surgical-Trauma ICU at Medical Center Brackenridge. Serving in leadership roles throughout my adult life, has paved the way for me to expand my focus to the needs of my community.
I coached two seasons of girls fast pitch softball at Cedar Park Youth League. I serve on the student health advisory committee for the Leander Independent School District (SHAC). I have been a volunteer RN for Ascension Health's Medical Mission at Home and for Samaritan Health Ministries. Throughout the Pandemic, I have been delivering food for Hill Country Community Ministries. My other volunteer activities are: Special Olympics Texas Resource Board, Hill Country Community Ministries Future Facilities Corporation, Henry Middle School, CPHS Softball Booster Club, American Legion, Cedar Park Public Library Foundation, BCRUA Board, Divas in Dog Tags. I am a 2020 Graduate of Leadership Cedar Park.
In my free time, I enjoy watching my daughter play softball and my son running cross country. Both kids attend local LISD schools. I love reading and traveling. My family enjoys fishing, camping and all things outdoors.
